I learned at a very early age that if you want excellent food you have to use the finest, freshest ingredients. My grandmother was a very good cook and the best baker I have ever known. She taught me about using real sweet butter; never shortening or margarine and patiently showed me how to use them to make cakes, tortes, pies, cookies and other delicious desserts.
